The Heritage Initiative – Many Waters, Many Stories, One Special Place

The Heritage Initiative is a community project asking our neighbors in the St. Croix River region if a National Heritage Area would be a good fit for our area. The Initiative seeks to identify shared stories and special places, discuss benefits and challenges, and ultimately decide whether or not to pursue Heritage Area designation.

The Heritage Initiative is facilitated by the St. Croix Valley Foundation and led by a task force comprised of citizens from through the region. Friends of the St. Croix Headwaters  has developed a partnership with this intriguing initiative, as it will provide economic benefits for our area and may indirectly provide conservation benefits for the Namekagon River. We are hosting a Heritage Discovery Workshop on Saturday, May 12th at 9am, at the Solon Springs Community Center.
